The art of composers: It has always amazed me how prolific the music giants have been. What I also find surprising is how much of their music is not played or even recorded. Perhaps some composition is really not very good or perhaps it is not up to the level of their better works, but how do we know if we cannot hear it?

I've put together a small database of some of the many composers where I've been able to find the lists of their complete works somewhere on the Internet. The data has been extracted from a variety of web sites whose references are included. I then massaged the data into a form for my own use. Many thanks to all the others who have actually compiled the individual composer's works. Try looking at how much some of the giants have actually produced. I've include the opus or other catalog numbers and, in some cases where data was available, included the dates, cities of composition, initial performances, dedications or other useful facts.

If you have any additional lists or pointers to the complete works of other composers, please let me know. For your additional enjoyment, I've added a small search function. Enjoy!
